Petition for Right to Parody in the UK - “Some copyright owners simply can’t take a joke. They use the law to silence criticism and stifle creativity. We need to rewrite copyright law to protect the art of parody.
Thankfully, the Hargreaves Review supported ORG’s long standing view, and now the government is making its mind up too. Many countries have a right to parody - including strong copyright countries like France.
But UK copyright lobbyists are arguing that there’s no need for a change: so we need to show exactly how stupid the law against parodying copyright work is.”
